Subscription, Billing and Refund Policy

This policy explains how paid subscriptions to The Crossover Pro work: what you pay, when you are billed, how automatic renewal and cancellation operate, and when you can get a refund. It applies to every purchase of The Crossover Pro made through thecrossover.io or any checkout we provide for The Crossover Pro, wherever hosted.

The Crossover and The Crossover Pro are published by Wowise (WOWISE - FZCO), a free zone company incorporated in Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Wowise", "we", "us"). This policy forms part of our Terms of Service at thecrossover.io/terms. Nothing in this policy reduces or replaces the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

1. Plans and pricing

The Crossover Pro is offered on two plans: a monthly plan and an annual plan. What each plan includes is described on thecrossover.io.

The price of each plan is the price displayed at checkout at the time you subscribe. We do not repeat prices in this policy, so the checkout page is always the single, current statement of what you will pay. Prices are set in US dollars (USD).

1.1 Switching plans

If you switch between monthly and annual plans, the change and any adjustment are shown to you before you confirm. The new plan is charged at the then-current rate for that plan unless we tell you otherwise. If you switch part-way through a paid period, the unused part of what you have already paid is credited toward the new plan or, where crediting is not possible, the switch takes effect at the end of your current period. Switching plans ends a legacy rate (see section 8).

2. Payment and taxes

Payments are processed by Stripe through Beehiiv's checkout. Your full card number goes directly to Stripe; we never receive or store it. We see limited billing details, such as the card type, the last four digits and the expiry date.

Prices may be subject to applicable taxes (for example VAT, GST or sales tax). Where tax is charged, it is shown at checkout before you confirm your purchase. All charges are taken in USD; if your card is issued in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate and may add a conversion fee, neither of which is within our control.

3. Automatic renewal

The Crossover Pro is an automatically renewing subscription: your payment method is charged at the start of each new billing period, monthly or annually depending on your plan, until you cancel.

In plain terms:

  • Monthly plans renew every month on your billing date.
  • Annual plans renew every twelve months on the anniversary of your first payment.
  • If you are on an annual plan, we will email you a reminder between 15 and 45 days before each renewal, stating the renewal date, the price and how to cancel.
  • Each renewal is charged at your current subscription rate. We will never raise that rate without at least 30 days' advance notice by email (see section 7).
  • Stripe, our payment processor, sends a receipt for each charge, and your subscriber account on thecrossover.io gives you access to subscription management.
  • To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel any time before your renewal date (see section 4).

4. How to cancel

You can cancel at any time, whichever way suits you:

  • through your account on thecrossover.io (Beehiiv subscriber settings);
  • through the Stripe billing portal, where your Stripe receipt links to it; or
  • by emailing us at [email protected] from the email address on your subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full Pro access until then, and you will not be charged again. A cancellation you send by email counts as given when you send it; it still operates at the end of your current billing period. If a renewal charge is taken after you sent a valid cancellation, we will refund that charge in full within 14 days.

Canceling does not normally trigger a refund by itself; refunds are covered in section 5. Canceling within the 14-day window in section 5.2, or exercising a statutory right under section 5.3, also counts as a request for the corresponding refund.

If you unsubscribe from all our emails while a paid subscription is still active, we will email you to confirm that your subscription is still running and to show you how to cancel it.

5. Refunds and your statutory rights

5.1 General

We give refunds only as set out in this policy, in the Terms of Service, or where the law requires. Nothing in this policy reduces the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

5.2 Our fourteen-day money-back promise

If you cancel within 14 days of starting a new subscription to The Crossover Pro, whether monthly or annual, we will refund your first payment in full. This promise applies to each new subscription you take out, including if you re-subscribe after canceling. It does not apply to automatic renewals of a continuing subscription. Refunds go to your original payment method within 14 days of your cancellation or refund request. Switching between monthly and annual plans counts as taking out a new subscription for the purposes of this promise. Where a switch was funded wholly or partly by credited value from a previous plan, canceling within this window also restores that credited amount. Beyond your statutory rights, we may decline to apply this promise where we reasonably believe it is being abused, for example through repeated cancel-and-resubscribe cycles.

5.3 Statutory rights for consumers in the UK, the EU and the EEA

If you live in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the wider European Economic Area, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a distance contract such as this one. Our promise in section 5.2 is at least as generous, and we apply it whatever the statutory analysis: cancel within 14 days of starting a new subscription and your first payment comes back in full.

You can cancel by making any clear statement to us. Emailing [email protected], giving your name and the email address you subscribed with, is the easiest way, and no particular form of words is needed.

Where the mandatory law of your country gives you more, for example renewal cooling-off or reminder rights in the United Kingdom, or in Germany the right to cancel monthly after the initial term and to cancel through an online cancellation button, that law applies and we honor it.

5.4 If we end your subscription, change the product, or cannot supply it

  • If we discontinue The Crossover Pro, or end your subscription other than for your breach of the Terms of Service, we will automatically refund a pro-rata amount for the paid period you have not received.
  • If we permanently reduce the number of paid editions of The Crossover Pro published in a normal week, or permanently withdraw a regular section without replacing it, and you cancel before that change takes effect or within 14 days after it does, we will refund a pro-rata amount for the rest of your paid period, calculated from the date your cancellation is given. This does not apply to temporary changes, to changes of format, length, timing, running order, section names or contributors, to the substitution of one section for another, to changes in who writes or presents any part of the product, or to any change we make to comply with the law or with a requirement of a platform or payment provider. Changes to the Terms of Service are dealt with in section 17 of those terms and do not themselves give rise to a refund under this section.
  • If an event outside our reasonable control prevents us from supplying The Crossover Pro for more than 30 consecutive days and you cancel, we will refund a pro-rata amount for the unused period. This gives effect to the force majeure provision in the Terms of Service.
  • If we end your subscription for your breach of the Terms of Service, no refund is due, except where the law requires otherwise.

Refunds under this section go to your original payment method within 14 days. Where we pay a pro-rata refund under this section, paid access ends on the date from which the refund is calculated. A refund under this section is the full extent of what we owe you in respect of the change or event that triggered it, and no further compensation is due. If the law prevents us from making a payment, we will pay it when and to the extent the law allows.

5.5 Renewal payments

Renewal payments are not refundable once a new billing period has begun, except as section 4 (a charge taken after a valid cancellation), section 5.3, section 5.4 or the law provides.

6. Introductory pricing and trials

The Crossover Pro is currently sold at an introductory founding-member rate. That is a promotional price, not a standing one. We may change it, withdraw it, or close it to new subscribers at any time, at our discretion and without notice, and doing so gives no claim to anyone, whether they subscribed at that rate or did not reach it in time.

If you subscribe at an introductory rate it becomes your legacy rate, and section 8 governs it: you keep it while your subscription stays continuously active, we may change it under section 7 on 30 days' notice in the same way as any other price, and it ends if you cancel or switch plans, with any later subscription at the rate then displayed at checkout.

We do not currently offer free trials. If we ever do, the offer terms shown at sign-up will state the length of the trial, the price you will pay once it ends, and how to cancel before you are charged.

7. Price changes

We may change the price of The Crossover Pro from time to time. If we do, we will email you at least 30 days before the change affects you. The new price applies from the first renewal after that notice period ends. If you cancel before that renewal, you will not be charged the new price.

8. Legacy pricing

Some subscribers hold a legacy rate: the price at which they first subscribed, kept in place while they remain continuously subscribed. If you hold a legacy rate:

  • you keep it for as long as your subscription stays active and your payments succeed;
  • canceling your subscription, or switching to a different plan (see section 1.1), ends the legacy rate; and
  • if you later re-subscribe, you do so at the then-current rate displayed at checkout.

Legacy rates are subject to section 7: we may change a legacy rate in the same way as any other price, with at least 30 days' notice, and you can cancel before the change applies.

9. Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries the charge automatically over the following days. You can update your payment details at any time through your account on thecrossover.io or the Stripe billing portal. If payment ultimately cannot be collected, your Pro access ends and your subscription is downgraded to the free edition of The Crossover. We will email you before your access ends. You can re-subscribe whenever you like at the then-current rate.

10. Complimentary and promotional access

We may grant complimentary or promotional access to The Crossover Pro at our discretion. Complimentary access carries no billing relationship, may be withdrawn at any time, and does not create any entitlement to continued access or to any particular price if you later take out a paid subscription.

11. Chargebacks

If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us at [email protected] before raising a chargeback with your bank or card issuer; most issues are quicker to fix directly. If a chargeback is raised against a charge that was validly made under this policy and the dispute is resolved in our favor, we may end the related access. If we end access under this section, we will refund a pro-rata amount for any paid period you have not received.

12. The free newsletter

The free edition of The Crossover costs nothing and involves no billing relationship. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

13. This policy and the Terms of Service

This policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service at thecrossover.io/terms. Our Privacy Policy at thecrossover.io/privacy explains how we handle your personal data, including payment data processed by Stripe. If this policy and the Terms of Service say different things about a billing matter, this policy prevails.
