| Bitcoin’s correlation with gold is reported at a nine-year high, it still fell on a jobs number, and the inflation numbers land on Friday. |
Traders are pricing bitcoin two ways at once.

Bitcoin is $79,246 this morning, down 1.12% on the day. It has spent four sessions failing to get above $80,265, and yesterday it fell away from that price.
The odd part is what it has been moving with. Protos reported bitcoin's 90-day correlation with gold at 0.56, the highest reading in nine years. Its correlation with the Nasdaq is at a one-year low, which is the profile of something people buy when they stop trusting the currency.
Now look at what moved it last. On Friday the US jobs report showed 162,000 people hired in August against forecasts of around 55,000. Bitcoin fell from just over $82,000 to about $79,300 within minutes, and traders lifted the odds of a September rate increase from 49% to 58% the same day.
Nobody sells a hedge against a debasing currency because 162,000 Americans found work. People do sell risky things when they think interest rates are going up.
Both readings have real evidence behind them, and traders can’t be acting on both.
One number says how much this matters to the people who own this stuff. Santiment counted 22,271 mentions of the phrase “rate cut” across crypto social media over seven days, against 11,758 for bitcoin. The biggest subject in crypto conversation is not a crypto subject.
Lyn Alden, a macroeconomist, said this week that the fiscal dominance era will be measured in decades rather than years. She expects it to run at least into the 2030s, and on that view the gold reading is the one that matters and one bad week does not touch it.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes wholesale prices on Thursday and consumer prices on Friday.
Traders have already eased the September rate-increase odds back to 52%. If the core reading comes in soft, they fall further. If it comes in hot, $79,246 is not the low.
The Ethereum Foundation graded 62 upgrade proposals.
The Ethereum Foundation published its first tier list for the Hegota upgrade, grading 62 proposed changes and marking FOCIL and Frame Transactions as must-ship. The same assessment targets a quantum-resistant Ethereum base layer by 2029.
Frame Transactions is being read as the one that reaches ordinary users. It lets an app or a wallet pay your gas in ETH and charge you in stablecoins instead, so a new user would not need to buy ETH before doing anything. Gas is what makes an ordinary user buy the token in the first place.
So the same change that gets somebody through the front door takes away a reason for them to own ETH once they are inside. These are graded proposals for an upgrade that has not shipped, and both halves of that are in the same document.
Canary's staked Tron fund is due on Cboe tomorrow.
A fund called TRXS is expected to start trading on the Cboe tomorrow. Canary Capital built it, and it is the first US staked Tron product. Bloomberg's Henry Jim reported the listing date, and the ticker comes from the prospectus.
The fund holds Tron's token and stakes it. That means it earns the network's rewards on the coins it is sitting on, so what a holder gets is the token's price plus whatever staking pays, less the fee.
The queue behind bitcoin and ether has started to move, and what is arriving now pays a yield. Tron Inc., which has been buying the token for its own treasury, is at roughly 713 million tokens. Whether anyone with a brokerage account wants a Tron fund is a separate question, and we find out from tomorrow.
